Chicagoland residents are asking Google…

  • At Trisha Davis Designs, we provide you with a complete estimate on every aspect of your project, including quotes from tradespeople. The overall cost of your project will depend on the scope of work and the materials, fixtures, furnishings, and decor you ultimately select.

We will guide you through the budget allocation process to ensure that your investment is being used wisely in areas that will stand the test of time in both style and durability.

  • While this question is truly impossible to answer, the best way to think about it is this: The best interior designer for your Chicago-based interior design or renovation project is the one who 1) has done work that you admire, 2) takes time to listen to your needs rather than forcing their own aesthetic on you, and lastly, 3) has a clearly defined process and a well-structured way of conducting projects.

We recommend that you ask your close friends and family which interior designers they’ve enjoyed working with, for a start. From there, browse each designer’s portfolio and website to determine whether you like their work. Next, interview each designer (we designers often refer to this as a Discovery Call) to finalize your selection.

Don’t select an interior design firm based on affordability, as the cost of your project will have more to do with the actual scope and materials and tradespeople required than simply on design fees alone.

  • Do you hire the contractor first? Or the interior designer? Great questions.

Think of the interior designer as the creative mastermind who will help ensure your new space looks and feels the way you want by helping uncover what you want and need. They then translate those design concepts into actual construction documents - often with the partnership of their trusted architect - that can be understood and used by various tradespeople.

Because interior designers have deep industry relationships, they already have builders, electricians, plumbers, landscapers, and other such companies at their disposal. You won’t need to bring your own tradespeople into the project or be responsible for vetting them.

In short, your first call when starting a new design or remodeling project should be to your interior designer. We highly recommend you reach out to Trisha Davis Designs to kickoff your project.
